The Muckrakers were a group of journalists, writers, and political cartoonists who worked to draw attention to the corruption of the Gilded Age, as well as the problems of mass immigration and urbanization. Now it's your turn to rake some muck. Write about an issue you feel strongly about that needs attention drawn to it. Persuade me to care, and try to elicit some response from your classmates.

Read the "Varying Viewpoints" passage on p. 667 of your Pageant book about the Turner thesis. Does the Western frontier experience define America and our national character? General Lee is touted as being one of the greatest generals in U.S. History. Is he worthy of the accolades? After reading both arguments from Taking Sides answer the following question:
